BOXER'S "RESPECT" FOR LATINOS AMOUNTS TO PANDERING [PDF]

Senator Insists She is "100 percent" Respectful, but Her Actions Tell a Different Story

Washington, D.C. — Senator Barbara Boxer (D-CA) recently responded to ads by the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles claiming she “respects” those who don’t share her values.

“Senator Boxer’s attempt to avoid the question reveals to Latinos everything they need to know about her views,” said Alfonso Aguilar, executive director of the Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles. “Having respect for those with different values than you is not an acceptable justification for working to undermine those very same values year after year.”

As a career politician, Senator Boxer has made public comments over the years that cannot be considered respectful. She has described immigrants as a “pool of cheap labor,” and about efforts to defend traditional marriage she has said, “If anyone says that their marriage is threatened by [same-sex marriage] there’s something wrong with their marriage.”

She has also stated, “Roe v. Wade, I believe, is a decision that brings us all together.” And who can forget her famous dressing-down of Brigadier General Michael Walsh? “You know, do me a favor, could you say Senator instead of ma’am? It’s just a thing. I worked so hard to get that title.”

“This counts as ‘respect’?” asked Aguilar. “Latinos deserve a Senator who not only respects the values of Latinos, but shares them. Senator Boxer has made comments that do not even respect the views of a majority of Latinos and this November, they will vote to support the Republican candidate, Carly Fiorina, someone who is not scared to say she shares their values and will work to defend and promote them once elected.”

The Latino Partnership for Conservative Principles, together with the Susan B. Anthony List have announced an additional $125,000 for Spanish-language Television ads in California markets.
